Emma Thompson & Adopted Son Tindyebwa Agaba

British actress Emma Thompson posed with her adopted son Tindyebwa Agaba at Nelson Mandela's birthday tribute last night. It is the first time the actress has appeared in public with the 20-year-old since she unofficially adopted him in 2003.

Emma, 49, unofficially adopted Tindy, as the actress calls him, in 2003 when he was 16 after meeting him at a Christmas party in London held by the Refugee Council. He had had a hard life in Rwanda as a child soldier. He was sleeping rough in Trafalgar Square, London when Emma and husband Greg Wise invited him to spend Christmas Day with them. He has lived at their home in Hampstead ever since and they have paid for his university education.

Emma and husband Greg are also parents to their own biological daughter Gaia Romilly, who was born in 1999.
