Christie Brinkley Awarded Sole Custody Of Children

After a marathon negotiating session to end their 10-year marriage, the ugly divorce trial between Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook finally ended at 6 a.m. this morning.

The main issue being resolved was custody of the couple's two children, Jack, 13, and Sailor, 10. Christie was awarded sole custody and final decision-making power over the children. Cook is permitted visitation and will be consulted regarding decisions about the children. Christie also retained ownership of all real estate holdings and her boat "Sweet Freedom." She agreed to pay Cook a flat amount of $2.1 million, which mainly covered his legal costs. The rest of the terms remain confidential.

The five-day trial included a string of witnesses and allegations against Peter's pornography addiction, his infidelities and his overall unstable nature.

At best, the lesser of two evils . . . I mean, the woman has her own profound narcissism issues (not as perverse or obvious as Cook's, of course, but they're issues all right); a seemingly double-digit IQ (years of evidence abounds); and any cred as a sensible, caring mother was destroyed by her insistence that the proceedings be held in open court, with the sorry and oblivious defense that the kids had no access to TV at the time. A no-win situation for those children ... too bad Alexa couldn't have been awarded custody ... seriously. P.S. And an interesting juncture in the testimony timetable for a settlement to be "achieved," no?

I think the ages of the children are reversed. :)

Glad she got the kids. Peter Cook is a scumbag!

Wow...saying that she is the "lesser of two evils" is a really judgemental comment. I have never heard anything about her being a poor mother or neglecting her children. It's so easy for us, as spectators, to point out the problems and issues of others (not just celebs, but neighbors, friends, relatives, etc) but we have to realize we all have our own issues too. It's just that no one debates them online. I think the judge was probably justified in awarding her custody, considering what Peter Cook did.

Meg #5: At least 80% of the comments on Celebrity Baby Scoop are "judgmental" if you stop to think about it. I do hope that, in fairness, you're sharing your righteousness on all the other Comment areas on the site. As for Miss Brinkley, I do not claim to know her, so I have commented only on her public speech and actions (and stuff where there's scarcely any wiggle room for interpretation, really). She may very well not be a poor mother or neglectful of her children (way to rally to her defense, Meg, with a double negative rather than a positive - wink). Even allowing for that, I'd still rather see those kids with Alexa (who seems the furthest thing from stupid and shallow - always a plus in a guardian). My very humble opinion, of course: I have no legal standing, and I realize no one involved in the case is checking with us here for guidance. ; )

What does cheating on your wife have to do with being an unfit parent. As long as the children were not involved in the affair then why are people getting their panties in a bunch, but that was my opinion before I heard the testimony from Alexa. I don't understand how christie didn't know about the "bucket of water" incident though because I would be PISSED to the high heavens if that were my child. I do agree with the commenters who said that Alexa should get custody of the children b/c she's the only one with common sense. This is typical Hamptons mentality where nothing goes wrong because there's always money to cover things up and distract people.

Both of the children are "his." He adopted Jack after Christie bought out his bio father Rick Taubman, so he signed away his rights. It seems as if Christie has control issues regarding her children. It appears that she does not deal well with co-parenting.

This divorce should have never been public for the sake of her children. Apparently her excuse is that they're in the mountains somewhere away from the media. That's BS. Sailor and Jack may be in the mountains but all of their peers are not. They'll hear about it and suffer....because Christie wanted to model the part of a scorned woman.

How sad for her children and what a demonstration of immaturity.
