Jamie Oliver: 'I Would Love A Son'

Living with wife and two daughters,

“I live at home with three girls and I need a bit of testosterone. If I can’t produce a boy I will have to adopt one. I would consider it. We have two beautiful, healthy girls and we cherish them. But I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be great to have a boy.”

The idea of adopting,

"Adoption is such a selfless act and they have a lovely family environment. It’s humbling and beautiful to see. Jools would like to have another child but there are so many vulnerable orphans out there. Jools and I need to sit down and have a very serious conversation about it.”

The girls growing up with a famous dad,

“Sadly my kids are not going to grow up in a normal environment. Poppy is very aware of what I do and is already embarrassed at school."

Bringing their children up and whether cooking will be in their future,

“Jools and I are real sticklers for manners and our children will realise that if they want something in life they will have to bloody work for it. They love to cook because it’s fun, but I never ram it down their throats.

“Their favourite thing is to pull up two chairs next to me when I’m cooking dinner for Jools and say, ‘It’s cooking school dad’ but they’re only playing for extra time before they go to bed."

Poppy making him proud,

“But Poppy made me very proud the other day. I asked my friend Andy the gasman to go into my garden and get me some rosemary. He came back with an old weed. Poppy ran out and immediately found a perfect sprig. I thought, ‘That’s my girl’.”
