Scott Baio's Daughters Health Scare

Scott Baio, 47, thought he would be a life-long bachelor. But last November, he and his fiancée Renee Sloan, 39, welcomed their daughter Bailey DeLuca. Scott said he was blown away by fatherhood,

"I've loved my life. My life has been great, but this [fatherhood] makes it."

Then, just one day after their baby girl came home from the hospital, Bailey tested positive for a potentially fatal disorder. Tests showed the premature baby might have GA-1, a metabolic disorder that can cause seizures and possibly lead to coma and even death.

"It was the worst time in my life," Baio said. "Every breath that you take, every thought that you have, every moment that you're conscious, it's all you're thinking about. The disease is a constant in your brain. It never leaves you."

After 10 weeks of testing, Bailey got a clean bill of health and it was determined that the result had been a false positive,

"We jumped through the ceiling!" Baio joyfully proclaimed.

Bailey is now 7 months old and Scott and Renee count their many blessings,

"In a way I'm glad I went through it. Because this sort of thing puts everything else in perspective," Baio said and also talked about the foundation they are establishing, "We know we need to be a voice here, and that's what we're trying to do."
