Paramount Pictures has turned an E.B. White classic into a heartwarming family film. Fern (Dakota Fanning) rescues a runt piglet from slaughter, names him Wilbur, and cares for him till he is too big to live in the house. Wilbur goes to live on a farm full of interesting animals, and one smart spider named Charlotte (Julia Roberts). Charlotte, very maternal, does some fancy web spinning to save Wilbur’s life. This movie has an all-star cast: Robert Redford as an arachnophobic horse, Kathy Bates and Reba McEntire as a couple of countrified cows, Oprah Winfrey and Cedric the Entertainer as geese, John Cleese as a sheep, André Benjamin and Thomas Haden Church as crows, and Steve Buscemi as cranky Templeton, the (scene stealing) rat.

A very sweet family film. Makes you laugh, makes you cry. This 2006 G-rated film is appropriate for all ages. A great re-creation of a classic- you feel as if you are watching the book! The visual effects are amazing! The characters are interesting, and some are just scene stealers! Dakota Fanning is a delight in this movie, and Julia Roberts voice is perfect for Charlotte! I can’t recommend this movie enough! I give this movie an A.
