Davina, 40, had a difficult relationship with her mother, who passed away from pneumonia earlier this year while battling bone cancer.
“One time I was getting ready to pick up my daughter Tilly from nursery at noon when a friend called me saying that she had Tilly with her. Pick-up time had changed that day to 11am. I went into complete meltdown. I was crying and sobbing uncontrollably. I drove to her house like a lunatic. She opened the door and there in front of me was an idyllic scene – Tilly and her friend husking corn in the sunshine, laughing and smiling. The tears were all about me, my childhood, all those times when my mum had forgotten to pick me up, how horrible I felt.”
