Maggie Gyllenhaal On Motherhood

Maggie Gyllenhaal recently gave an interview about her upcoming role in The Dark Knight, and how motherhood to 20 month-old Ramona has changed her life.

On how motherhood has made her a better actress: “I think having a child changes everything and has deepened everything in my life. I think it has deepened my acting.”

On how incredible motherhood has been so far: “It really does crack you open in every way. I never knew that I could be so tired. I never knew that I could work so hard. I never knew that I could love so much or be so patient or be so excited by the tiniest, tiniest little thing. Everything about it has surprised me.”

On getting away from Ramona to work: “I do think that it’s really difficult to get me away from [Ramona]. It’s difficult to find a script that’s good enough for me to think, ‘Okay, I really need to do this instead of being with my daughter.’”

On her typically edgy performances vs. taking more child-appropriate roles: “Some people have asked me whether I’ll choose things that … have a more sort of child-appropriate content, and I don’t think so. I think I’ll choose what’s interesting to me.”

On how she and fiancé, Peter Sarsgaard, share parenthood roles: “We share absolutely equally.”

On her brother, Jake Gyllenhaal’s, relationship with Ramona: [He is] “a great uncle.”

IT IS INTERESTING HOW THEY DIDN’T ASK ABOUT THE “STAR” OF THIS MOVIE “HEATH LEDGER” WHY NOT CALL IT “THE JOKER”

AND REALLY DEDICATED TO HEATH… BY HAVING ONLY HIS NAME
AND THE REST OF THE CAST BE HIS CO STARS.. AFTER ALL THIS MOVIE WAS DONE AS A BATMAN MOVIE…THE FIRST ONE SHOULD BE DEDICATED TO KATIE HOLMES SINCE IT WAS HER MOVIE…
IT IS INTERESTING THAT THEY ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT A THIRD
    MOVIE…
