Minnie Driver’s Movie Role Hits Close To Home

Minnie Driver’s recent movie, Take, which debuted July 25, tells the story of a mother who confronts the man who murdered her young son just before his execution. Due soon with her first child, Driver says her impending motherhood really magnified the impact it had on her,

“You don’t have to be pregnant to be horrified. The thought of anything happening to a child is just mind numbingly awful for all of us. But I think it’s worse for a mother to imagine that the child that she looks after night and day might be put in harm’s way. It was one of the most challenging times I’ve had as an actor to experience that pain. That’s pretty much why I took the part even though I did suffer.”

She also goes on to say that she always planned on being a mother,

“Oh, yeah. Always. I’m surprised it’s taken this long to tell you the truth. When I was much younger, I never envisioned waiting until my mid-30′s to have a kid. I thought I would be much younger. So I’m just grateful it’s happening.”

I really like Minnie and I am so happy for her that she is having a baby. I think she will make a fantastic mother.
