Johnny Depp 'Totally Inspired' By His Kids

Johnny Depp, arguably one of the most popular actors in the world, is also notoriously one of the most private. But he did open up a little in the January issue of Britain's Psychologies magazine about one thing - how much he loves his family.

"I could sit there all day and do nothing but watch them grow. I'm totally inspired by them."

Johnny has two children - Lily-Rose, 9, and Jack, 6 – with longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, and meeting her, Johhnny says, gave him "proper perspective and understanding" in his life.

"It wasn't until then that things started to get real for me," he tells the magazine. "We just have a miraculous understanding of each other."

He also looked back at some of his favorite roles - Edward in Edward Scissorhands, and the first Pirates of the Carribean, which he describes as a "blast."

"I was a million percent in love with Edward Scissorhands. I remember looking in the mirror on the last day of shooting ... and thinking how sad I was to be saying goodbye to Edward. [About Pirates] Orlando Bloom and I would say to each other, 'We're actually getting paid to do this?' It felt very intimate."

But Johnny also freely admits that he hates being the center of attention,

"I never wanted to be the guy people looked at. I don't think of myself as being a celebrity, it's too mortifying."

Johnny's next movie is due out in 2009 - The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, which originally starred Heath Ledger before his death. Johnny was one of three actors who took over the role and then donated their salaries to his daughter Matilda.
