Rumor: Charlotte Church Using Old Wives' Remedies To Induce Labor

Charlotte Church, expecting her second child with husband Gavin, is so ready to have her second child that she is trying anything to induce labor, including old wives' remedies, The Mirror is claiming. The 22-year-old singer, already mom to 15-month-old Ruby, was apparently supposed to give birth December 30th, but still hasn't, and is trying everything to speed things up, according to a friend.

"Charlotte's not had any twinges yet so she's trying all the old wives' remedies. She's hoping the curry, pineapples and raspberry tea will work and has put the midwife's number in her mobile so she can act fast when things happen."

This may or may not be true - but did you start trying things to induce labor the closer you got to your due date?

Both my kids came earlier than their due dates, so I didn't have to worry about inducing :-)

But when my sister was pregnant and past her due date she ate spicy food for about 2 days and that did the trick!

I know that I tried a few things to try to get things going... A LOT of walking, spicy foods, even sex but none of it ever worked. In the end, I actually had to get induced with my last two. Not fun at all lol

OH YES! I was carrying a 10 pounder and was ready to try almost ANYTHING to help him out!! I used EPO caps, raspberry LEAF tea, lots of sex sex sex, and eventually turned to castor oil in green tea, which did the trick! After taking that stuff (which isn't as nasty as it's reputation in my humble opinion), my son was born 24 hours later...5 hours of labor...born at home! I'd do it exactly the same if there was a next time! Any woman in their last weeks/days of pregnancy has my sympathies! It feels like FOR-EVER!! ;)

My daughter was a week late when I was induced. I don't know how long it would have been before natural labor started. I was miserable and desperate, my legs and feet were unbelievably swollen (I found out later that I had venous insufficiency.) I didn't believe most of the old wives' tales, but supposedly sex can help, as semen is filled with prostaglandins, which helps bring on labor. So we had as much sex as I could manage. My husband was certainly happy to do whatever he could! ;)
