Benji Madden Is Ready To Take On The Boyfriends!

Harlow Madden's future boyfriends have more to worry about than just the little girl's dad - they'll have to watch out for her Uncle Benji, too!

"I'm going to be keeping a close eye on her," Benji, 29, tells PEOPLE. "I'll leave the shotgun right by the door. We're lucky being twins, because Joel can be the good guy and I'll be the bad guy."

And Benji was nothing but complimentary about how Joel and Nicole are raising their daughter, who turns 1 on January 11.

"When they had her, their instincts just kind of came out, and it's amazing to see," he says. "They just really put their child above everything. Joel is such a great dad and Nicole is the best mom I've ever seen. Joel is all about showing up. His main concern in life is protecting and caring for his family."
