Lee Ryan Debuts Rayn Lee Amethyst
Former Blue singer Lee Ryan and his fiance, Sammi Miller, introduce their now 6-week-old son Rayn Lee Amethyst in Hello! magazine this week.
Lee and Sammi met on MySpace in 2006, and after a year of chatting, they met in person and got engaged. The couple denied rumors of a break up when Sammi was five months pregnant, and plan to marry this year. The 25-year-old says fatherhood is the best thing that's ever happened to him, gushing, "I’ve got this incredible feeling of responsibility and protectiveness. It’s great - I love it."
Miller, 25, adds, "I couldn’t do it without him. It’s been an incredible year for us. We keep looking at Rayn and saying to each other we just can’t believe he’s ours."

Of the birth, Lee says,
"As soon as he arrived, I can remember we both started crying. It was a very emotional moment. We’d waited nine months for this and finally we were at the end. On seeing him come out, I think I went into a bit of shock. We’d chosen the name some time ago. We both just liked it. It’s an anagram of Ryan. And Amethyst came about because we wanted a precious stone in there. If we ever have a girl, she’ll be called Rose Quartz."
And does Lee want his son to follow in his footsteps? You bet!
"Rayn’s everything that I’m working for. I can’t wait till he gets older, then I can teach him the guitar and piano and how to sing. I also can’t wait for him to appreciate my jokes."

Did the baby get his mother's last name? Otherwise his name is Rayn Ryan....
Technically they just reverse the father's name and tweaked the Ryan part. How ORIGINAL*roll eyes*
Did they actually call their child Rayn Ryan? No pardon me, I mean Rayn Lee AMETHYST Ryan. It's bad enough they've reversed the father's name and given him a ridiculously similar first and last name, but they have also named their son Amethyst. Is that a boy's name in any culture? It's sure not where I'm from.
What's even worse is when you click on the link to the Hello! article, Lee states that if they ever have a girl they'll be naming her Rose Quartz. Rose is a lovely name, but Rose Quartz?? Rose Quartz isn't even a precious stone. You can buy a rose quartz bracelet for $10 down at the local markets. Honestly....

I wonder if Rayn is pronounced like "Rain" or "Ryan"? Amethyst seems a bit feminine for a boy's (2nd) middle name, I agree... Great photo though and they have an adorable boy!
Rose Quartz? Sigh. At least Rose is a lovely name and most people don't use their middle names much, so she could just be Rose Q. Ryan. A "Q" is a pretty cool initial, anyway! Amethyst is a rather feminine-sounding name. Poor kid, stuck with Amethyst when his name is otherwise Rayn Ryan. Imagine how often he's going to have to spell that!

I met Lee about 5 years ago when I was working with his then girlfriend. The name thing is totally something he would do. He's a good guy but way to stuck on himself. And it sounds like Rain they just changed the I to Y. He's got some really good pics on his facebook.
