It says his family was killed in the genocide, I believe that took place in the nineties. There is no genocide going on in Rwanda at this time. I understand he wants to stay in the UK, but he probably won’t be “killed horribly” in Rwanda.

I don’t really understand why they “informally” adopted him, why didn’t they formally adopt him?

Yes, the genocide was in 1994. It started in 1994 and ended in 1994. one million people were killed in about three months time.

It is absolutely horrible that he lost his entire family during that time. However, he is not a refugee. He is not in England so that he will not be killed. What I am wondering, is why is he being deported? Was he an illegal immigrant? If so, did he immigrate during the genocide, or after . . . All of these things need to be taken into account before I pass judgment on either side.

Also, they have not been fighting against his deportation in over a year. It was cleared up in 2008. No where online is there a report of them still trying to stop it. All reports say they succeeded, and the wikipedia reference where it mentions it is from the beginning of 2008.
