Brad Pitt & Family Donate $1 Million

Brad Pitt has teamed with his siblings to donate $1-million to a new a cancer care centre at St. John’s Hospital in their hometown of Springfield, Missouri.

Brad's brother Doug announced the donation yesterday on behalf of himself and his wife Lisa, Brad and Angelina and Rob and Julie Neal.

The center, which is set to open this summer, will be named the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center in honor of Brad's mom.

The Springfield News-Leader, which broke the news, reveals that there are plans to expand the center to include "a new 31 pediatric unit, a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald House; and double the size the neonatal intensive and pediatric intensive care units."

St. John's is one of many beneficiaries of Brad and Angelina's charity. In 2006 the Jolie Pitt Foundation gave over $8-million to various causes and organizations.

Do they have to send out a press release every time they do a good deed? I'm glad they are donating, but it seems so self-promoting.
