Tried, Tested & True: minui HandySitt - A Modern High Chair Built With Functionality In Mind

I am happy to be able to present a brilliant product that brings a little bit of Europe over to North America, the minui HandySitt portable high chair. The HandySitt is a modern looking, space saving, portable, sustainable and ethically made piece of genius.

When I first had a glimpse of the HandySitt, which is suitable for children aged 6 Mos - 5 yrs., my first reaction was one of surprise, as it looked so compact. I have not used a traditional high chair with my 14 month-old for some time as we have switched to a standard portable booster/high chair; the comparison in size is incredible. Once assembled on to my dining room chair, (which literally took about 30 seconds,) I stepped back and took a good look. Compared to the huge piece of plastic that sat on the chair next to it, the HandySitt looked compact yet sturdy, and did not stick out like a sore thumb. So far so good...

My 14 month-old eagerly ran over to the new high chair and I picked him up and buckled him in using the safety guard and strap. The strap system is completely different from the traditional 3-point harness we are all used to, and has just recently been ruled safer by the EU, I don't find this hard to believe at all. Once in the chair, I quickly noticed was how good his posture was, he was sitting up perfectly straight thanks to the seats backrest, and seemed quite happy about it. I then pushed him up to the table, and the chair fit in perfectly, shocking to me as I am unable to push my other one under the table at all. I also really liked how there was no tray for the HandySitt, as I personally have never used one. My kids have always seemed quite happy right at the table with us, and I have always been stuck with an extra piece that I had to find somewhere to store in my home. Another great design feature!

The HandySitt is not only portable and sleek, but it is also quite safe in many aspects. It is certified by North American and European safety standards for a free standing portable high chair, it is also certified by the well respected European certification company TÜV and more recently received the influential PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) Green Product Award. Definitely seems like a product to feel comfortable using with all of the safety certifications and parental approval!

On top of all of the great product features that I have already mentioned.; the size, portability, ease of use and the safety, what really makes me appreciate minui is that they are actually considerate to the environment and have brought children's health to the forefront of product design. The products are made using sustainably harvested birch, steel, formaldehyde-free water based paints and varnishes, and non-toxic BPA and phthalate-free plastics where necessary. Instead of being tossed in a landfill when it is done being used, (which will take YEARS since they are made using solid wood,) you can actually disassemble it and recycle the pieces.

After having the pleasure of testing out the HandiSitt, I am definitely impressed by product in many ways. It is portable, easy to use, my son seemed happier in it, it's ecologically responsible, the list could go on and on...
