Amber & Rob Mariano Welcome Baby Girl Lucia Rose!

PEOPLE reports that reality TV stars Amber, 30, and husband Rob Mariano, 33, welcomed baby girl Lucia Rose on the Fourth of July at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. She weighed in at 6 lbs. 11 ½ oz. and measured 19 ¼ inches long.

“Both mom and baby are healthy and doing great,” says the proud father. “Lucia is a great eater and sleeps a lot, however she tends to be a bit of a night owl like her daddy at times. She is a perfect baby and we could not have asked for anything more. We are over the moon with happiness at her arrival!"

Lucia is an Italian name meaning “light of God” while her middle name, Rose, was chosen to honour her paternal great-grandmother who passed away on the Fourth of July.

Amber and Rob each spent a season competing on Survivor individually before forming an alliance on Survivor: All-Stars, where the season finale saw Rob’s on-air proposal to Amber in May 2004. The couple then competed on the Season 7 of The Amazing Race, were married on April 16, 2005 and in 2007 returned to compete again on The Amazing Race during its All-Star season.

Lucia is the first child for the couple who have had family life on their minds for several years: “We both come from a family of three kids, so I would like to have three kids, but you never know what happens,” Amber told PEOPLE in a 2005 interview. “So hopefully we are blessed with at least one child and then we would both like to adopt one day if possible."

In 2007 Amber spoke to PEOPLE again about baby plans: “We definitely want a family and we’ve been talking about it, but I think it was also important for us to spend the first couple of years just the two of us together.” Rob added, “We are not trying right away but when it happens, it happens.”
