Willie Garson Adopts A Son!

After years of trying to adopt, Sex And The City’s Willie Garson has finally welcomed his new eight year old son, Nathan.

“He moved in with me in February,” Willie tells TV Guide. “He’s going into third grade, plays baseball, goes to karate and has a posse of pals.”

Willie and Nathan will be moving from Los Angeles, where the boy grew up, to New York City where Willie will be shooting the second Sex And The City movie. “I can’t really talk about [the movie] – we had to sign legal documents,” says Willie. “But I just read the script and it’s glorious. The fans will love it. The movie is very reflective of the current culture.”

He’ll also be working on his new USA Network series White Collar. “I’m going to be able to do both at the same time,” says the actor.

Regarding his son, Willie says that he will allow Nathan’s biological mother to visit him: “For many reasons, she couldn’t care for him, but I will never let her not see him.”

Originally, Willie was hoping to adopt a 3-year-old child before he met and fell in love with Nathan at an adoption fair: “They're held in secret locations. It's like a pet fair - as horrifying as you can imagine. It was really hard. The 16-year-old fat ugly kid, who has probably been to thirty of these, knows he's not going to get adopted. Like everything else, cute wins. I couldn't believe my kid was actually available for adoption. He's so cute and sweet."

Willie also commented on what he believes it will be like for his new son once they hit the big city: “I think he’s going to be freaked out when we go to New York, where (the Sex And The City cast) are like the Yankees. We can’t walk 20 feet without being mobbed.”

The 45-year-old actor, who is most famous for his role as Stanford Blach, also had a recurring role as Henry Coffield on NYPD Blue. Other notable TV appearances include Party Of Five, Star Trek: Voyager, The X-Files and Friends.

Hailing from Highland Park, New Jersey, he received a theater degree from Wesleyan University and also attended Yale Drama School.
