Rachel McAdams Looks Forward To Motherhood

Rachel McAdams isn’t a mom just yet, though she plays one on the big screen in the highly anticipated new film, The Time Traveler’s Wife.

"I was excited and nervous about it because I haven't done it before,” Rachel says of her maternal role. “It was a welcome challenge."

The 30-year-old actress tells People that she’s looking forward to life imitating art someday, saying, “Having a few [kids] would be great.”

Rachel already knows what kind of mom she hopes to be when she eventually does have kids of her own: "My mom is a great inspiration to me,” she says. “She's a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am. Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her."

Though she prefers to keep her private life just that, Rachel’s past romances with her Notebook co-star Ryan Gosling and then actor Josh Lucas have attracted tabloid attention. Though she wouldn’t comment on rumors that she and Josh have recently split, the Canadian-born beauty did reveal her thoughts on love in general, saying, “[Relationships] are hard… and they’re worth it. If you find the right person, it’s worth the struggle.”
