Céline Dion Pregnant With Embryo Frozen For 8 Years

Just yesterday Céline Dion revealed that she and her husband René Angélil are expecting their second child. Today, PEOPLE reveals that the 41-year-old award-winning musician conceived through in vitro fertilization with an eight-year-old frozen embryo.
According to her physician, Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, the Love Can Move Mountains songstress is "very excited" about the pregnancy. Dr. Rosenwaks, who performed the in vitro fertilization procedure, recalled his telephone conversation with the French Canadian pop star earlier this week to say the pregnancy test was positive: "You could hear her chuckling," he says. "She was very happy. So was René. They are both very thankful."
Rosenwaks, director of the Ronald O. Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center for Reproductive Medicine at New York-Presbyerian Hospital/Weill Cornell Center Medical Center, confirmed that Céline conceived through in vitro fertilization, as she did with her son René-Charles. The doctor also revealed that the embryo had been kept frozen in liquid nitrogen for the past eight years. "She is very, very early in her pregnancy," says her doc.
According to the fertility specialist, eight years does not exceed any kind of expiry date. "There have been embryos that have been [frozen] for more than 10 years, and even more than 15 years, that have successfully thawed and resulted in a pregnancy."
Céline's doctor went on to say, "She is feeling well. So far, so good. I look forward to hearing the fetal heartbeat. René and Céline are both looking forward to a pregnancy that is a healthy one." He adds, "There is no question she is ecstatic."
Reports state that Céline is due in May 2010.

Congrats to Celine and Rene. I really will be praying for her health and this babies health. I she has said RC would like a little sister, well several actually he told her. Anyway I just can't wait to find out what she's having, I wonder if Celine wants a little girl or a another boy?
Essentially, her son and this new baby will be twins! Conceived at the same time.
Actually no they will not be twins, they are just siblings. Its wrong to call them twins, they are not spilt from the same egg, they were two different feterlized eggs.
Fraternal twins occur from different eggs. It doesn't make them any less of twins than identical ones which form from a split embryo: as long as two babies are conceived and born from the same womb at the same time, it is a twin birth. Case in point: Marcia Cross' daughters and Ricky Martin's sons are non-identical twins.
In this case, Rene Charles' new sibling will be born long after he was and will not be considered a twin. Conceived at the same time, yes, but not carried to term at the same time.
These two kids will be no more like twins had they been born a year apart, these are two totally different eggs, so that means two different embryo's. The only thing that is the same is that they were fertilized on the same day but the Embryo that was placed in Celine and resulted in pregnancy was Rene Charles, while this remaning Embyro was frozen. They are not fraternal twins either, nor identical. They are different embryo's to be twins they would have to have been carried at the sametime and both resulted in pregnancy.
