Update: Mom-to-be Ellen Pompeo did attend her baby shower today in LA! It was hosted not by Nicole Richie, as early reports implied, but by Ellen’s Grey’s Anatomy co-star Katherine Heigl! Ellen and Nicole, who is expecting baby #2, did get together earlier in the day.
Ellen celebrated impending motherhood with a catered backyard bash attended by 25 of her friends, including Kate Walsh, Sandra Oh and Rebecca Gayheart.
“Ellen looked gorgeous in a white summer dress with her hair in a braided up-do,” an onlooker tells People. “She seemed very excited to celebrate with her girlfriends.”
The 39-year-old expectant mom received tons of great gifts – including a Sleep Sheep toy mobile and Kiddopotamus organic swaddle wrap – from Juvenile Shop, where she’s registered.

Expectant mom Ellen Pompeo kept her baby bump under cover this afternoon as she headed out with her husband Chris Ivery.
According to reports, Ellen was on her way to her baby shower, which was held today at the Hollywood home of another famous mom-to-be: Nicole Richie!
Last month we saw the the former Simple Life star catching up with Ellen as the two shopped for baby goodies at Juvenile Shop in Sherman Oaks.
The Grey’s Anatomy actress and her husband are expecting their first baby – a girl! – in October.
