Nicole Richie Welcomes A Son: Sparrow James Midnight

Update: Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have welcomed their second child, a baby boy Sparrow James Midnight!
Baby Sparrow was born early Wednesday morning, September 9th weighing in at 7lbs. 14oz.
Congratulations to the Richie-Madden family!
ET Online reports that Nicole Richie, 27, has been admitted to the hospital to give birth to baby no. 2 with boyfriend Joel Madden.
The couple, who chose not to find out the sex of their second child, are also parents to 1 ½-year-old Harlow.
Reps for the couple have yet to release an official statement.

I hope this is true! I can't wait to see what they name the baby. (Or babies, since I think it may be twins.)
There was a rumor Nicole was in labor a few weeks ago, so I don't want this to be a rumor too.

Maybe she planned it this way so she can have the baby on 9/9/09 at 9:09 am (pacific time). Wouldn't it be wierd if the baby weighed 9 lbs. or 9 lbs., 9 oz. At least they will get the 9/9/09 part!
there was a baby last year born on 08/08/08 at 8:08 a.m and he was 8lbs 8 oz no joke!!!
Cool that they waited to find out the sex. I can't for the life of me understand why people want to spoil the biggest surprise of their lives.

I don't know ... maybe it will grow on me, maybe it won't, maybe Joel has watched Pirates of the Caribbean too much.

I just looked up Nicole's birthday and she will be 28 on September 21 so she was 12 days from having him on her own birthday. I'm glad she didn't though because it's nice to have your own birthday when in the same family!
I agree with whoever said 9/9/09, did she have a c-section? It had to have been planned.

It makes me think of Neko Case's song "Maybe Sparrow." Neko Case's birthday was yesterday! Is there a connection? But the song is depressing. Though gorgeous.

Sparrow? Eh.......hm. I'm trying to picture him as an old man, with his grandchildren calling him "Grandpa Sparrow", or maybe "GranSpar". This name is going to take a lot of getting used to.
This is a general question to anyone who names a child: do they realise that they're naming future adults, and not permanent infants?
what's wrong with the name? just bcos you don't like, it doesn't mean it's bad. better than calling your son brian, tom, michael....... i remember when i was in high school, there were like millions of brians, billions of michaels, so the teachers usually just called them by their last names.
i try not to be one to judge...but that is one ugly ugly name! sorry nicole!!
i totally agree amber, i would name my kid doorknob before i named him brian. most people dont have any creativity when it comes to choosing a name.
dont worry folks, he wont get bullied since he will be in the same school as Apple, Bronx, pilot inspektor and princess Tiamiammmii(whatever her-name-is). Bet he will be the one who is going to do some a$$ kickin..!

congratulations to the whole Madden/Richie family! Who cares about the name as long as the baby is healthy. Actually I love the name. It´s very original and there certainly aren´t many boys who´s name is Sparrow. But maybe he begins a new trend in boys´ names. After all there weren´t many girls named Shiloh before Shiloh Jolie-Pitt was born but now she has many name-sakes. Or at least I remember reading something like that after her birth. Harlow must be excited about her new baby brother Sparrow. Those two are locky to have Joel Madden and Nicole Richie as their parents. Hopefully they´ll have mmore children in the future.
