Christina Aguilera Joins The Fight Against Hunger

Beautiful singer Christina Aguilera has signed on as the spokesperson for the annual World Hunger Relief campaign. This year's goal is to provide 40 million meals for schoolchildren in developing countries.

Christina, who is mom to 20-month-old son Max Liron, explains why she decided to lend her star power to the cause:

"As a mom, I can’t accept that even one child could go hungry or that a child dies every six seconds from hunger. That’s why I’m so passionate about this cause," says the Grammy-winner, who recently traveled to Guatemala, where she witnessed the problem firsthand. "World Hunger Relief makes a huge difference by providing relief for millions of hungry people, especially schoolchildren in developing countries. I hope by lending my voice to this cause I can raise awareness and move millions of people and children from hunger to hope."

Christina is pictured here at yesterday's Variety's 1st Annual Power of Women Luncheon in Beverly Hills, where she was recognized for her hunger relief efforts.
