Maggie Gyllenhaal: Ramona Gets Homesick

Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband Peter Sarsgaard were in New York last night for the premiere of his new movie, An Education.

The couple and their 3-year-old daughter Ramona recently returned home from London, where Maggie was busy filming the kid-friendly flick Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang. The family-of-three has been spending a lot of time overseas these days: Along with Nanny McPhee, An Education was filmed in England, as was Maggie's blockbuster The Dark Knight.

“Peter and I were saying that we are going home and we are going to say little English things and our friends are going to think we are super pretentious!” she jokes.

However, the busy mom admits that it's not always easy to just pick up and go now that she has a child to consider.

“When you’re pregnant, people love giving advice,” the 31-year-old actress recently told UK newspaper The Telegraph. “And the advice that I have the most disdain for is, 'Oh, kids are so adaptable. Just throw them on your back and take them wherever you want. They will manage.’ I brought my daughter to London for four months and she is happy here, we have had a great time here, but she wakes up in the morning and says, 'Momma, I miss Brooklyn.’ I think, yes, it is hard to be two and all of a sudden be in a totally new place. It’s very different to being 31 and doing that. The thing is, children are adaptable. They will manage, I believe, but always at a cost.”
