Update: Céline Dion Was Never Pregnant With Second Child

Update: News broke yesterday that Céline Dion was no longer pregnant with her second child. Reports today state that the 41-year-old French-Canadian singer was never pregnant and was misdiagnosed.

Céline's husband René Angélil confirmed to Canadian newspaper Journal de Montreal that the latest in vitro fertilization treatment she underwent in October was unsuccessful.

We're living the reality of the majority of couples who face these procreation techniques," Angélil told the paper. “Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn’t the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked."

They quickly tried again to get pregnant, but were unsuccessful, he added, “But you know Céline. She doesn’t let go.” The couple have an “extraordinary” son, René-Charles, 8 ½, who was conceived with the help of Rosenwaks.

“I admire all the women who go through such a tough process. Since April, she has undergone numerous examinations, multiple hormone injections and blood tests,” Angélil said, adding that the couple will go to New York this weekend for a third try. “Céline and I didn’t get discouraged … we put our faith in life and in the stars.”

How reliable is In Touch, though?

Not very reliable at all.

I'm not going to believe she miscarried until she confirms it herself. Right now, it's just a friend.

I hope she didn't lose the baby!

Thats incredibly sad. So sorry Celine.

Ugh I really hope this isn't true...how devastating.

I'm sorry, but I can't rely on In Touch. I think they were the ones that said Halle Berry was pregnant again, and look how accurate that was.

If it's true, then my condolences to Celine and her family. However, I'll wait and see if it's confirmed by the family rather than a 'friend'.

Now i understand those who hide their pregnancy till it's after 3 months at least. It must be painful to get this out publicly. I hope Celine is doing allright.

I hope so much that this isn't true. How heartbreaking for her. I remember reading about how desperately they tried for their first child and how overjoyed she was with the new pregnancy. Best wishes.

so sad i hope its not true, she truly deserves ¸to be a mother again

Oh, no way! What's more heartbreaking is that she was just what, a few days, if that, away from the 14 weeks mark [where the risk of miscarriage is dramatically reduced!]. if this is true, i feel very very sorry. and at the same time, very lucky, as i just turned 14 weeks today. :(

I hate that this was posted here without any reliable confirmation. This lie, if it is a lie is going to be devastating for Celine when she finds out that people were reporting she miscarried. If it is true then my heart goes out to Celine, she so desperately wanted this baby. I know Celine is going to absolutely all apart if she lost this baby.

In touch is not reliable, but Celine announced her pregnancy too early, she must have been like 2 days or two weeks.

I hope it's not true but I have a feeling it is due to her not having a bump but I hope it's not true.

People has picked up this story, and they have quotes directly from Rene. However, it seems Celine was never actually pregnant. The doctor who performed the procedure took it upon himself to announce her "pregnancy" to the world immediately after he implanted the embryos. Talk about a breach of doctor-patient confidentiality! Rene explains that the embryos never took, and Celine was never pregnant, although they will continue to try. If I were them, I would make sure to try with a different doctor.

Peta said:

Wow. If what you said is true, then that was a huge breech of ethics on the part of the doctor.

Even if it's In Touch, why would a magazine MAKE UP a story about someone losing a child?!?!?!?! That would be a first.

Tabloids have never been known for tact. If they can put out a story of people having affairs with their relatives, publishing a star's supposed miscarriage isn't too low brow for them. Anything to sell a story.

She left it too long. Really 41 is not the optimal age to be trying for a baby. She should have been on this at least 6 years ago....if nothing happens now she must accept and be okay with having put her career first. Wasn't the age of Celine's husband a factor either?

Bad news for Céline Dion.

OMG! I hope it's not true. That would be so devastating for Celine and her family. Please tell me it's NOT true! *crossing fingers*
