According to the Associated Press, Edis Kayalar, who reportedly tried to extort $100,000 from former supermodel Cindy Crawford, has turned himself in to police.
Prosecutors in the city of Stuttgart revealed today (November 17) that Kayalar walked into a police station late Monday and has been charged with one count of extortion in the United States. He faces up to two years in prison.
The 26-year-old German citizen is accused of threatening to leak a questionable photo of Cindy and husband Rande Gerber’s then 7-year-old daughter, Kaia. He apparently stole this photo from the home of their former nanny.
Kayalar will appear before a judge today to determine whether or not he will remain in custody.
