Martin Brodeur Welcomes Baby No. 5!

Martin Brodeur, 37, and wife Genevieve have welcomed their first child together – a baby boy! Maxime Philippe was born shortly after noon on November 23, weighing it at just over 8lbs.

“It went really well,” says Martin. “A big, healthy baby.”

The proud dad also shared a photo of his son on his website, snapped at just 5-days-old with the caption:

I'm the Newest Little Devils fan.. I love my Mommy and Daddy... My Daddy Marty and the New Jersey Devils are the Best. GO DADDY GO!!

Maxime, whose name was chosen because it’s easily pronounced in both French and English, is baby no. 5 for the New Jersey Devils goaltender. Martin is also dad to Anthony, 14, twins William and Jeremy, 12, and 7-year-old Anabelle Antoinette with ex-wife Melanie Dubois.

The proud dad has each of his children’s first initials on the back of his hockey helmet and has already added an “M” for his newest addition, with the help of assistant equipment manager Alex Abasto: “It’s already on. My boy does it every time for me, until I get it really painted.”

Martin and Genevieve were married in 2008.
