Bethenny Frankel On Her “Miracle” Pregnancy

Bethenny Frankel On Her "Miracle" Pregnancy

At four months pregnant, Bethenny Frankel is busy as ever! The 39-year-old mom-to-be is shooting The Real Housewives of New York City, will set out on tour to promote her new book, The Skinnygirl Dish, and just finished filming her first exercise DVD. Bethenny shows off her baby bump to Life & Style and chats about her pregnancy.

On if she is excited about her pregnancy: “I’m really excited. I’m starting to show a little bit. I don’t fit in my pants — it’s very liberating. Now I believe that I’m pregnant.”

On if she has gained much weight: “Five or 6 pounds, but they’re right in my stomach. A lot of people think being pregnant is one giant binge, but you should check yourself before you wreck yourself. I’m not changing the way I eat. If I eat chocolate cake at lunch, I try not to have it after dinner. By no means is it dieting, but I’m trying to maintain some sort of balance because I’ll have to deal with it later. I’m actually thinking of writing a pregnancy book. There’s no reason to gain 75 pounds.”

On if there have been any complications due to her age: “I had a scare. I had a big blood clot before three months. It was very scary. I was on bed rest.”

On if she feels like this is a miracle baby: “Absolutely a miracle. I’m not young, and I run around like a maniac. I always wanted to have kids, but I thought I’d wind up adopting or freezing my eggs. I didn’t think it would just happen at my age. Did I plan the pregnancy? No. Did I want it? Yes. I felt like there was something huge missing in my life that I hadn’t experienced yet.”

She needs to get further along in her pregnancy before she starts judging how much weight is appropriate to gain during pregnancy. 4 months is nothing! Wait till your 8 months, Bethenny! When you’re huge all around no matter how good you’re eating, then maybe you’ll reconsider being such a know-it-all.

Its common knowledge (or at least should be) that gaining 75 pounds in pregnancy because you consider yourself eating for two is not smart. I know that and I’m not even pregnant yet. If you eat healthy and still gain, then ok, but its not ok to pig out and thats probably what she’s talking about. If she does gain 75 pounds eating healthy then she still has a right to say “no eating for two” cause its still true.

I think she is doing really well….Some women don’t pack on the weight..I know with my second pregnancy I only put on 10 lbs threw the entire pregnancy and my baby was very healthy…And I’m not an over weight person either and I did’nt workout….Just tryed to eat healthy foods most of the time.

She’s only 4 months along? I’m predicting that this means that we will have five months of hearing lots and lots of details about exactly how many pounds she has gained, what she is eating (and not eating) and what types of exercises she is doing to stay skinny. And she’ll write a book re-hashing it all, as well.

    Very uninteresting.

When I was pregnant, I paid loose attention to how much weight I gained and then lost, and maybe I talked about it with close friends, but I generally assumed that no one else wanted to hear about it. There are more important things in life.

And, did she really say “you have to check yourself before you wreck yourself”??! Ugh.

I love how the minute a woman becomes pregnant, they’re suddenly an efficianato on pregnancy and weight-gain and babies, etc. I do tend to find that a tad annoying and I can see, at 4 months along and already mentioning her future book, that Bethenny is one of those people.

That having been said, she’s still my favorite NY [not a ]Housewife.

Just out of curiosity, for those of you complaining about what she says (or writes) or bashing her…if you didn’t care so much you wouldn’t be reading about her. My guess is the ones who “aren’t interested” in her advice or her expertise probably aren’t very healthy…
