Jamie Lynn Spears Splits From Casey Aldridge

Zoey 101 star Jamie Lynn Spears has split from Casey Aldridge, the father of her 18-month-old daughter Maddie, Us reports.

The younger sister of Britney Spears made headlines in 2007 when she announced that she was pregnant at the age of 16.

A year later, rumors spread that the young couple were engaged after she began wearing a diamond ring. Around the same time, she was spotted wearing a shirt that read, “The Rumors Are True.”

Months after her 17th birthday, Jamie Lynn gave birth to their daughter Maddie Briann in June 2008 near her Kentwood, La., hometown, where she owns a home.

Shortly after Maddie’s birth, Lynne Spears said she was proud of her daughter but was sad at all the scrutiny she endured. “Nobody wants their children to have these kinds of hardships or bumps,” Lynne said. “Who would want that?”

sad at the scrutiny her daughter endured? if she didn’t want her kids to deal with excessive scrutiny, she shouldn’t have encouraged stardom at an early age (she didn’t have to put Jamie Lynn in the spotlight as she experienced Britney’s stardom, but she did). I guess, for Mrs Spears and her family, projecting her daughters images and lives is a wonderful thing to do but anyone who looks too closely is being cruel?

I’m surprised it lasted this long at all. I thought they broke up in secret a long time ago.

I’m just glad they didn’t go through a shot-gun wedding first. The divorce would have been a mess.
