Johnny Depp: A Simple Life With His "Marvelous Family"

He may be one of Hollywood's hottest commodities, but actor Johnny Depp will take a vineyard in France over the red carpet any day.

"With Vanessa and the kids, we live in a sort of little village in the south and I have the impression of being in paradise," he tells French magazine VSD. "It's a property of about 30 acres and you know what I do there? Absolutely nothing."

Adding that "there are times when I don't leave the property for three months at a time," the Alice in Wonderland star muses that this reclusive life "has given me everything. A marvelous family and also an equilibrium which I missed enormously."

Far from the glitz and glamor of Beverly Hills, Johnny describes his days in Plan-de-la-Tour in the South of France: "When I wake up I go look at my garden. I go see if my vegetables are growing, if certain flowers have started to bloom."

The doting dad also reveals that for he and his partner Vanessa Paradis, "everything revolves around" their kids Lily-Rose, 10, and Jack, 7.

"Where will we go for a walk? Should we eat at the house with them or maybe go for a picnic? These are the problems we face there."

Though he admits his life's dream is "to make wine," that's not to say that the Oscar-nominee is about to give up his current day job. In fact, Johnny and Vanessa are currently in talks to appear on the big screen together in American Dream, about French feminist Simone de Beauvoir and her love affair with Nelson Algren.

"Nothing has been officially signed but it's progressing well," he says. "I've great desire to work with her on a film. Vanessa is not only a terrific singer but a wonderful actress."
