John Edward captivated us in Crossing Over with John Edward with his unique abilities to connect people with loved ones who have passed on. John is one of the world’s most sought-after psychic mediums and author of several books including the critically acclaimed New York Times best seller One Last Time; What if God Were the Sun, which was turned into a Lifetime movie starring Gena Rowlands.
As he embarks on a worldwide tour, this busy father of two opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about his fears of fatherhood, his uncanny ability to predict future events, and how his gift can be disappointing and “never enough” for so many.
CBS: You and your wife Sandra are parents to 7-year-old son Justin and 3-year-old daughter Olivia. How has fatherhood changed you?
JE: “The first thing that is does is make you aware of all the potential things that can go wrong and how on top of them you need to be. My wife laughs at me and tells me that I am channeling my grandmother Josephine all the time, and she was a very protective soul.
Add in being a medium for me, and it gets worse! Too many times people sit in front of me with that look of loss because they walked away or let someone else watch their kids. I can’t be everywhere all the time, but I try to be.”
CBS: Do you sense that you and your children have been connected in past lives? Have you done readings on them?
JE: “I believe that most of the people in our lives have been connected in previous incarnations. I don’t ‘read’ them per se, but I ‘know’ them.”
CBS: Do you think your children have your psychic abilities?
JE: “All kids have psychic abilities as do all adults. Children just listen better.”
CBS: What are some of the ways we can improve our psychic abilities?
JE: “The next book that I am working on is about developing your intuition and abilities. Not to do readings, but to apply that to your everyday life.”
CBS: Are you able to connect with my energy and do a reading on me?
JE: “If you mean right now, no. If you are asking if it is possible, then I would have to say yes. I make it a rule not to read for journalists. I feel they lose objectivity and write about whether they LIKE what I said or not, not the validity of it.”
CBS: In May, you’re starting an International tour. Will your wife and children join you ‘on the road’?
JE: “They will not. I like to focus my energy on the work and maintain my energy for that. It gets quite lonely on the road when you do that, but the work has to come first. People need me to focus my energy on them, all of it. It is my job.
It is very rare that I bring them. I then worry about what they are doing, are they having fun, etc.”
CBS: What can the people in your audience expect?
JE: “They should expect what they see me do on TV but better, because it’s live and they are IN the ENERGY of the experience….and no commercials!”
CBS: Do you ever have people that won’t leave the event in desperation of a reading?
JE: “I know that at the end of every event, and sometimes even a private session, there is disappointment. The reality for me is that every time I begin my job, it’s at a deficit. I start my job everyday knowing that it’s never enough. It is NEVER enough. No matter how hard I work, it still not enough. By being at the event, my role is to educate and empower all that attend, while reading as many as I can as the examples.”
CBS: Do you ever get exhausted of it all and just want to escape to a ‘normal’ life?
JE: “This is my normal life! And I really am honored to have the opportunities as a result. I feel like I live in the movie the Matrix a bit; I took the red pill and there has been no turning back for me. I live my life with an awareness of the energy of the Universe and am honored to teach and share it. The goal is to get people to recognize it, void of their ego and sense of entitlement.”
CBS: We loved your show Crossing Over with John Edward! Will you ever return to TV?
JE: “Working on some really amazing projects right now. I would encourage everyone to watch for updates on www.johnedward.net for all future announcements.”
CBS: Have you ever predicted any natural disasters, high-profile deaths or top stories? Do you have any predictions for the future?
JE: “The reality is YES all the time. If I listed them here right now I promise you would be impressed. You could also say, ‘well they happened already, how do I know that you said it was going to happen??’ And that is why I am not listing them. But if you speak to those around me, and closest, they would tell you. That is why I tell like 3-6 people whenever I get something big coming up. I sometimes will forget myself. When multiple people come back and say, ‘OMG, you said that was going to happen like seven years ago’ it validates the message from my Guides, and THEY are the deservers of the credit, not me.”
CBS: What do you have to say to your critics?
CBS: If you are working on any future projects or with any charities, please feel free to discuss.
JE: “I work with various charities all year to help them fundraise. I’m a believer in karma, and like to raise awareness in multiple ways.
I launched an internetwork called INFINITEQUEST.com last year. With the convergence of technology, I am going to be producing TV shows on the web and this is where it will happen over the next few years.
I will still be doing regular TV as well and my first book in five years is being released in the fall and it is called INFINITE QUEST as well.
Thank you for taking the time to interview me and express interest in the work I do. All the best.”
