With twins on the way in just over a month, NFL superstar Tiki Barber and his wife Ginny are calling it quits on their 11-year-marriage.
The 35-year-old athlete, who has been an NBC Today Show correspondent since retiring from football in 2007, confirmed the split yesterday.
“After 11 years of marriage, Ginny and I have decided to separate,” said Tiki, who has a reputation as a committed family man. “This decision was a painful one, but we are moving forward amicably and will continue to work together to raise our children with the love and dedication they have always known.”
The couple, who began dating while still in university, are also parents to sons A.J., 7, and Chason, 6.
The news comes amidst speculation that Tiki has been romancing a 23-year-old former NBC intern. The New York Post reports that Traci Lynn Johnson accompanied the former New York Giants star on a trip to Senegal last year and then joined him earlier this year in Vancouver, where he was covering the 2010 Winter Olympics.
