Nicole Richie’s Kids Are Growing Up Green!

When it comes to raising her 2-year-old daughter, Harlow, and her 7-month old son, Sparrow, mama Nicole Richie has gone green!

“Nicole is obsessed with doing everything she can to try to keep her children healthy and safe,” a friend of star tells Life & Style, adding that Nicole is constantly searching through books and the internet for the latest parenting news.

[She] insists on everything being organic. The food, the diapers, the clothing. She’s always at Whole Foods.

But how does this compare to the Nicole’s childhood?

“Her parents let her do whatever she wanted,” says and insider. “Now she has strict rules.”

RULE 1 – CHLORINE-FREE DIAPERS: “I use Seventh Generations,” says Nicole about the brand of diapers which are not only chlorine free but are nontoxic and hypoallergenic. “And we don’t use baby wipes – we use cloth with water.”

RULE 2 – NO CELL PHONES: One friend tells Life & Style, “She thinks the radiation can be damaging and won’t let cell phones near her kids.”

RULE 3 – EAT ORGANIC: The former Simple Life star even grows her own veggies in her garden to prepare salads and stir-fries for vegetarian fiancé, Joel Madden.
