Kelis Dishes On Her Lengthy Labor

R&B singer Kelis welcomed son Knight nine-months ago, and is now thanking pregnancy and her faith for helping her get through labor, as well as making her best work to date. Of her lengthy labor, Kelis says, "It was really savage. I was in labor for 67 hours. I went natural, and it was savage! If you ever doubted the glory of God, you have to rethink that after having a baby. I mean there's no way I could have done this by myself. There is a creator."

The now 30-year-old also adds that her perspective has changed since entering her third decade, telling Style magazine via Contact Music, "My mom always used to tell us, 'Your twenties? Whatever. In your thirties you'll be your most beautiful, your sexiest, your smartest.' I've been through so many life changes getting here, it's like, she was right'."

Of her return to music, the Milkshake singer, who filed for divorce from rapper Nas while 7-months-pregnant, adds, "Being pregnant and recording was awesome. I just felt I had so much to say."

Knight is the first child for Kelis, while Nas has a daughter Destiny, 16 from his first marriage.
