Teen mom Bristol Palin is paying the bills just like most parents, supporting herself and son Tripp by working a full-time job. Palin told PEOPLE that despite her mom’s reported millions, she does not receive any financial support from ex-vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and husband Todd, “[My parents] are there for support when I need it emotionally, but I’m on my own financially. I work an 8-to-5 job, five days a week. My parents help out, but they’re not at my disposal. I think that’s a huge misconception.”
The teen abstinence and safe-sex advocate also says most of her earnings go towards supplies and childcare for 16-month-old son Tripp, “I’d say the majority of any paycheck I ever receive is going to Tripp. Child care is very expensive, formula is expensive, diapers are expensive – and you don’t think about that as a kid, at all.”
Palin may rest a bit easier now, TMZ is reporting that ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston is taking on some of the financial burden. Johnston has paid $21,000 in back child support and the past two months has paid the agreed upon monthly amount of $1,750 on time.
Despite the challenges she faces as teenage mother working full-time, Palin is determined to have a college education, “I’m trying to chip away as much as I can on college, but this semester it was nearly impossible. I want to beat that statistic of teen moms not graduating from college.”
