Kate Hudson & Her Big Apple Boy

Six-year-old Ryder Robinson found a new toy in the form of a tree branch as he and his mom Kate Hudson headed home after running a few errands in New York yesterday (May 6).

Earlier this week the 31-year-old star dazzled in a Stella McCartney gown on the red carpet at the 2010 Metropolitan Museum Costume Gala. Her pal Liv Tyler revealed their pre-event routine:

"We have this little ritual where we meet at like 2 or 3 [o'clock], and we drink champagne and do hair and makeup and take pictures. Then we come here and we start walking and we’re like, 'Oh my God! I’m going to trip!'"
