In an interview set to air this evening (May 25), Jesse James sat down with Nightline to open up about his life after the cheating scandals that destroyed his marriage to Academy Award winning actress Sandra Bullock, reports US Weekly.
James and Bullock had adopted a baby, Louis Bardo, earlier in the year, which they were able to keep secret throughout Bullock’s Oscar campaign. In the interview he admits that seeing photos of his former family makes him “sad,” but he admits that not being a part of baby Louis’ life is the best thing, adding, “…I realize why things have to be done in a certain way.”
He then opened up about watching Bullock mother his three children from his previous relationships, saying,
To see her in the role as mother is, like, one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. She is like a fish to water … as soon as she put that baby into her hands, it was automatic and amazing. I found a new trust for her, like I knew she wasn’t going to leave, and our relationship blossomed.”
In the end, James acknowledge that he was the one who destroyed their marriage, and said that he may have “wanted to get caught.” He also believed that Bullock “had her suspicions” about his infidelities. James has now completed a rehab program, adding that Bullock was “proud” of him for attending.
As to why he chose to publicly open up, James said he wished to clear up the rumors that he was a racist after a controversial photo of him hit the web, saying, “Dealing with losing my marriage and my son and embarrassing everyone and decimating my life… but to be called a racist on top of that is, it makes me really sad.”
