Kate Gosselin and her eight children – 9 1/2-year-old twins Cara and Mady and 6-year-old sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin and Joel – cover the latest edition of People.
It has been one year since the marriage of Kate and Jon Gosselin began to break down, and Kate acknowledges that it’s been a tough year for them all.
[Cara] was upset with me because I forgot to sign them up for something at school,” Kate, 35, says. “I said, ‘Cara, I had a really rough year. This is a new year. You’ve got to give me that. Let’s start over.’ So I’ve really worked to keep my word with them.”
In general, Kate says that all eight of their children have weathered the storm well: “They’re just amazing, resilient, loving kids.”
Kate and her kids will return to TLC in Kate Plus 8, airing June 6. We recently saw the reality TV mom and the children filming scenes for the new show.

Kate gets the worst rap but everyone who judges her is being unfair and small-minded. How amazing is it that a regular person was plucked from obscurity and is now a household name? I think she’s amazingly lucky. She’s a good mom and juggles alot of hats. She could’ve stayed in Pennsylvania and been an empty, unfulfilled suburban mom, but she pursued a career and made herself happy. Now she AND her family get the best of both worlds – a happy career mom getting to travel and meet all kinds of people, and kids being given anything they could ever ask for. YOU GO KATE! Ignore the criticism.

Jealous? Hahahahaha. She is an heinous, awful person. You couldn’t pay me enough money to live her life. Forget about the kids, I would never in a million years even go on television myself. I know it’s crazy, but not everyone wants to whore themselves out for attention the way she does. Some people actually think privacy and discretion are good things.

First people complain that she puts her kids on tv too much, then complains when they aren’t there with her? OMG Yes the show STARTED out to be a family show ABOUT the kids but it turned into a SPINOFF of Kate having HER own life in front of the camera. How many shows do this and make huge stars from former shows? It happens. Besides her lifestyle changed and yes she does need to work, if not then she couldn’t afford to keep security on her kids who need it to keep them away from idiots that think it’s ok to bother them just because they were on tv. I love security for my kids and I’m not on tv! It if their life now, so what if she was lucky and it happened this way. People do eventually have lives after their kids get older!!! Maybe she acted like a witch early on in the shows stress of kids will do that to you, plus add a hubby/father that didn’t seem to want to be either and that stress makes you a witch. If the show hadn’t show that part then no one would have anything to complain about on that front, and for those that claim to be in it for the sake of the kids, what about people like Kelly Ripa for being away from her kids for the soap opera and talk show? Her and her husband are both away and have nannies watching the kids. What about any parent away from their kids who have jobs, how about all of the parents of child stars and commercial actors who are kids. They don’t sign up for that on their own, it’s their parents. Should we go around harassing everyone who ever made money off their kids being on tv?? People get a life. Watch what you want and let others do the same. Tv or not this family has been through a lot and continuing to treat them poorly only makes you look like a loser.
Exactly! Why are we still being forced to deal with/hear about this celebrity rag hag? She pimps her children out. We’ll read about those kids in the tabloids one day…and not in a good way. This “fame” of theirs (although Kate wishes the spotlight were ALL hers) can only lead to heartache and possibly tragedy. Someone ought to interview (if they would even grant it) the surviving Dionne sisters…This ain’t gonna end up pretty trust me.
I used to love people magazine because they have real celebrity and newsworthy stories. But all of a sudden. There nothing but stories about Kate. This is her 8th people cover.
They’re not ALL about her but yeah 8 is about 6 too many. Yes! I remember when the magazine had stories about all kinds of people…inspiring stories full of worthy information….now it’s just another rag that gossips, caters to the lowest common denominator (in terms of celebrity, their loins and their most mundane NON-NOTEWORTHY activities)

That’s most likely due to a little heavy handedness with the photoshop and less likely to age.

First step having your kids looks altered via photoshop…next step having their features altered via cosmetic surgery. She’s a big fan of that…and not so much a fan of her ex-husband. Combined with her psychotically “perfectionist” (though I would call it something MUCH stronger) personality she probably will have their features “fixed” permanently to look less like Jon is the father. She is that sick.

I am thinking her point is that we don’t see all the drive-by Internet hatred and anger for any of the OTHER reality TV parents “putting” their kids on television.
There are so many shows and “acts” that involve kids. How many movies and tv sitcoms have children in them?? How many parents leave for jobs that have them on the road for weeks and months at a time? Do we bash people for throwing their kids movies on utube, or sesame street for having kids get paid to be on tv??
Come on people, you obviously watch the show or you wouldn’t have anything to write about and if you say you don’t like it then you must just love the attention as much as the gosselins or you wouldn’t care to write about your negative feelings. So either admit that you like it and then stop bashing it or just stop writing about it and find something you do like to go waste your time on. These people are just normal people that were given the opportunity to join the spotlight and finance their families life. It is no different from the family down the street except that they are in the spot light of the cameras. The took the step and now they have to continue to live in it to finance their lives. Wanna see the kids add a bankruptcy and homelessness to their list of already crappy life stories? At least give them the trips and fun to make up for it. Heck I’d take the freebies and yep I’d be the protective parent too.
The Duggars pay all their bills outright and aren’t media whores getting free homes, playhouses, phony weddings, birthday parties, trips to amusement parks, hair plugs, tummy tucks, face and butt lifts, clothes, vans, and EVERYTHING under the sun by pimping their kids out.
Kate even got free cribs from members of her father’s church and turned them down because they didn’t match.

I read somewhere that it’s not uncommon for magazines to photoshop faces so that everyone looks straight on (take faces/features from other shots), seems like the case here. Creepy.

I agree she is doing what she has to do to provide well for her children. I do not believe she is a bad mother at all. All eight of the kids seem very well adjusted and happy. Is there any of you who are so judgemental free from making any mistakes at all in your life time. Don’t think so. I wish her the very best and keep all of them in prayer.

It’s funny how many people are so viciously angry at Kate. I admired that she’s found a way to be with her kids most of the time, and still have enough money and time to travel and do fun things with her kids. As a nurse (which she is), most jobs now require 12 hour shifts, and you never see your kids. She’s smart enough to figure out how to make enough with the least amount of time away from her family. If you can’t admire that, at least stop being so mean and jealous. Taking care of 8 kids is quite a full time job, without adding in all the things they do as a family. On top of that, she cooks healthy food, keeps them clean and well cared for, and isn’t using food stamps or on welfare like many mothers with a lot of kids. A self supporting mom of that many children is rare indeed. Give her a little credit….or at least stop bashing her. Good job, Kate. You’re doing great!
