As the star of the new movie The Karate Kid, 11-year-old Jaden Smith has been stealing the spotlight from his very famous parents. Mom Jada Pinkett-Smith says she's not all surprised by her son's success.
On an appearance on Lopez Tonight this week, the HawthoRNe star revealed that she knew Jaden would be an entertainer before he was even born!
"I knew when I was carrying him. You know, it's Will and I... I just felt like two artists would create a little artist," she said. "When he was born he used to love dancing to Michael Jackson.... And then as he got older, he had some real skills. We were actually sitting at the dinner table and Will was saying, 'We're having a really hard time finding a child to play my son in The Pursuit of Happyness. And I looked at Jaden and Jaden looked at Will and said, 'Daddy, I'll audition.' And I said, 'We know this, Will: If he auditions, there's not going to be any child that's going to be able to do what he does.' 'Cause I just knew."
Not to be outdone by her big brother, 9-year-old Willow also has big plans for her future.
"She loves music," Jada revealed, adding, "She's going to have an album coming out. She's 9 years old, I don't know where that voice came from. She sings like she's a grown woman, like she's been around.... Music is her thing."

Why are people always picking on this family? It seems so much more vicious to me, compared to the negative comments usually posted about other celeb families...

And, nepotism??? Oh, please -- are you really upset that they cast their own son in a movie? Is it also unfair if Ben Affleck chooses Matt Damon to star in a movie he is producing? People clearly get ahead in this world because of people they know or are related to, and I'm not saying that it's 100% fair, but there's no reason to blast this family for it. For all you know, they auditioned thousands of kids for the role.
Yes, of course, they are so talented and it is purely because of talent that they get to star in films and produce albums...
It is nepotism. That's how it works in most places - sometimes you can't even get a job in a bakery if you don't happen to know the right person - but at least they should have the decency not to pretend that it was actual talent or achievement that secured their children what they have.

Why does she have to be full of herself? She gets paid for being an artist, and mind you quite well, so why can't she call herself and artist?
How about just letting the kids be KIDS?! So Willow has a great voice..let her sing in the school choir. Wait until she's an adult to make an album. Yes, they're adorable and obviously talented but why the rush for these kids to do everything?

that hannah montana girl got her start because of who her dad is, tory spelling and loads other. it just the way it is but if these kids cant hold there own then you will see it. Jaden got the part because of his parents but he own that movie and worked hard and he has the talent. there are so many child actoirs and singer out there they are not the first and wont be the last. so haters keep hating they will still be them.

Seems like money and connections buy a lot of "talent" in this family. I used to love Will but this is overkill.
Yeah the parents can get them in the door but after that they have to perform and do a good job or they won't make it. Jaden trained for months to do the martial arts in the movie. He's got the drive to succeed. I don't think anyone is pimping the kids. They seem to want very much to act and sing without anyone pushing them into it. A lot of these comments sound jealous.
I see this site is full of racist SOBs who think that only white celebrities and their kids are worthy of being featured on a daily basis. This is only like the 3rd post I've seen of the Smith family as of recent and some of you already complaining. Jennifer Garner and her daughter are actually featured on a daily basis and I don't c anyone complaining about that. Let's talk about miley Cyrus who got her foot in the entertainment industry because of her famous father and there were countless other white entertainers who did the same so where's the complaint about them in regards to nepotism? Give me a break. You racist need to find your own island and live on it. God doesn't like ugly.
I don't have anything against the kids. I just hope they really love doing this and aren't just doing it because their parents are pushing.

@ Sara Lee - Jennifer Garner is seen taking her daughter to pre-school, not to record her latest album. HUGE difference. And as far as Miley Cyrus goes, I feel the same way about her as I feel about the Smith kids. Miley never got to be a kid and now she's a train wreck. And if you haven't noticed, everybody talks about the Cyrus family...and not in a good way! Katie Holmes and Tom Cruz get major grief every time they take Suri out. Is that about race too?
seriously, I feel that Jaden's martial art performance in THE KARATE KID is very good and seems skilled and measured, not like many foreigners' Kungfu movements which look awkward and unnatural. I am a Chinese and a big martial art movie fan. He was only 10 years old when he was shooting the film. He must have worked very hard on that. I really appreciate it. And I also appreciate their dramatic performance in this movie. It has nothing to do with his parents. I am not good at English but I am honest.

There are tons of child stars. Look at disney most of them kids have albums, i know because my kid has alot of them. I don't see how they are pimping out their kids,they have money and fame they dont need their kids for that. as long as the kids love what they do I am all for it. they seem to be a tight family and have alot of love. But people can think what they want... I just disagree about the attacking of the kids thats weird for sane adults to do.

personally i would set the bar a little higher for my kids, cure for cancer or maybe world peace, but if it is what they really enjoy what can you do?

Its unfortunately that Will Smith great career is going down the tubes because his family has become a bunch of famewhores except for the elder son. Will Smith has great talent. Anyone who doesn't notice that is just blind. 2 oscar nominations is not something to get without being talented.
