Looks like comedic genius Steve Carell’s children – 9-year-old Elisabeth Anne (sometimes called Annie) and 6-year-old John – have inherited their father’s funny bone!
“Kids are funny in general because they’re unfiltered and they’re wise, but they’re not jaded by anything,” he explained to PEOPLE at the Monday night premiere of his latest flick, Dinner for Schmucks, held at New York’s Ziegfeld Theatre (July 19).
Their sense of humor is very pure, and they don’t even a lot of times know when they’re being funny, because it’s just so honest. And I think that’s what makes them so funny.
As for picking a favourite moment of hilarity, he couldn’t decide: “Oh boy, they do something funny every day.”
Steve – whose wife Nancy is also a comedian – admits that though his children are aware of what he does for a living, they aren’t very impressed by his celebrity status. “I don’t really talk so much about work, because when I’m home, I just don’t feel like it’s that interesting for my kids.”
“It’s just what I do,” says the 47-year-old Anchorman actor. “I don’t think it define me at all in their eyes. And I think the less we make of is, the better of for them, and certainly me, too.”
