Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Are Expecting Twins!

How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris and his partner David Burtka are expecting twins this fall!

The 37-year-old actor took to Twitter to confirm the happy news:

So, get this: David and I are expecting twins this fall. We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy...

Last year it was reported that the soon-to-be dads had paid a visit to the Growing Generations surrogacy agency in Los Angeles – the same agency used by Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, whose twins were born June 2009. It looks as though those rumors may not have been far off!

Neil and David, a chef/actor, have been together for approximately six-years.

Congrats to the happy couple!

Congratulations to them! I'm so freaking excited for them! The twins are very lucky to get David and Neil for fathers.

I hope they have a boy and a girl!

No idea if this is true in this case, but often when a celeb makes an announcement about some event in their life like this, it's because a media/tabloid found out and was going to make it public anyway. Better to get ahead of the news and announce it yourself so you have more control over the story.

E!Online broke the story earlier in the day, so Neil just confirmed the news.

They look like twins.

Congrats to them both! Wish they had adopted rather than have children via surrogate but I am thrilled for them just the same.

Yes, she knows. I'm sure the donated sperm came from either NPH or his partner. Surrogates are always told of the couple they are carrying a baby for and have to be on board before they are used. Chances are, the eggs used were donated by someone other than the surrogate. There's less of a chance of problems if the surrogate is different than the egg donor. The surrogate has no rights to the child whatsoever since her eggs were not used and therefore, she cannot change her mind and fight for custody after the birth. It also makes it easier on the surrogate to hand the baby over after birth if she knows she's not the biological mother.

Guess what - not everyone is a prejudiced jerk. Shocking, I know, but some people don't think there's anything wrong with being gay.

I'm tired of this homophobic crap I've been seeing everywhere.

There's nothing dooming about the twins being raised by their fathers. They will be loved by Neil and David, and that's what matters.
