Teen Mom's Maci On Co-Parenting With Her Ex

Teen Mom star Maci Bookout and her 1 1/2-year-old son Bentley are featured on the cover of the latest issue of US magazine. In the interview, the 19-year-old mom talks about some of the challenges of co-parenting her son with her ex-fiance Ryan Edwards.

"We barely speak," Maci admits, adding, "But I don't think it's a bad thing. We just try to avoid arguments as much as possible."

One issue she and her ex don't exactly see eye-to-eye on? Discipline.

"I think Ryan spoils Bentley and really has no boundaries as far as discipline," she says. "With me, I don't want Bentley to grow up and be a brat when he's 4 years old."

Maci also complains that Ryan tends to hand off a lot of his fatherhood duties when their son is with him, saying, "As far as Bentley getting fed, his diaper changed, taking a bath, it's mainly Ryan's mom doing all of that."

The busy mom - she works as a waitress as well as attending school - has a new love in her life these days: Her boyfriend of 6 months, Kyle King.

"It's weird to see [Bentley] loves Kyle enough that Kyle can make him feel better... I like that emotional support that comes with having a partner," Maci says.

Team Maci! She's such a good mom! And it's good to know she has a new love in her life, so she can be happy.

I really thought the show was good because its the real truth about being a teen mom. My daughter is 17yrs. old an she will be a senior this year. I have been real frustrated with these web sights for free baby stuff but when I register for her I have to lie about her age because you have to be 18 to register. I'm not saying I promote teen pregnancy but it does happen and its going to be even harder for a teen to be a mom. My daughter knows she made a mistake by unprotected sex but that doesn't mean the baby companies and media should shame a teen by not excepting her age. And the support and opportunity's like everyone else will help her to become a good mother. I am just pleased that you guys could tell your stories to maybe prevent others from having unprotected sex, but also it encourage others moms that it can be done with hard work.

I saw this edition of Us Weekly while I was in line at the grocery store, and REALLY wanted to buy it (I love the show Teen Mom), but there was NO WAY to convince myself that $3.99 was worth it.

So, I'm thrilled you posted on it (I was hoping you would). I think for the girls (young women) on the show they act a lot more mature than I did when I was 18/19 years old. Guess becoming a momma does that..

I'm happy MTV is able to give a somewhat accurate portrayal of the endeavors young mothers have to face.

I am a mom of 2 young children and I have to admit, I love this show! I watched all these mom's in 16 and pregnant and I love following them now with their toddlers. Motherhood is a hard job and I can only imagine how much harder it is as a teenager.

Their should be more oppurtunities and support for teen moms and single parents through out canada and us. Here in canada i know we have a few services, but it can be hard for the agencies to provide support. the govt doesnt provide much money to these non profit agencies. I wish all the best for moms to be and moms.
