In Eat Pray Love, Julia Roberts plays a woman who leaves her marriage in a quest of self-discovery, but in real life it’s husband Daniel Moder that keeps her grounded.
He’s my rock. My husband is my best bud. He’s so smart and he never lets me down
And the actress also admits that it’s her husband’s dedication to their three children – twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, 5, and son Henry, 3 – that makes it possible for her to accept as many movie roles as she does. “People often ask me about balancing work and motherhood and whatnot, but it’s easier for me than for so many others,” she said. “I can choose when I work and I have a wonderful support system in place.”
But Julia is quick to point out that there isn’t any one key to a happy union. “There’s no ‘secret’ to a successful marriage – it’s not a magic trick,” she says. “I’m just lucky to have found someone who I can build my life on.
“I’m at an appropriate place in my life. But you have to continually nurture that place. I don’t think it’s a finite fixed point on a map, but family definitely plays a huge part in that.”
