Hello, moms who love to wine! No, I didn’t say whine:) Did we get your attention? Ok, you’re going to love this! The folks over at Moms Who Need Wine obviously had me pegged when they contacted me to try some wine from California Wine Club’s Mom Series. How would you like to get limited-production, award-winning wines without the meltdown, on a monthly basis? Yes? We’re raising our hands!
Moms Who Need Wine and The California Wine Club sent me two incredibly fantastic bottles of wine from the Curtis Winery in Santa Barbara County. The winery was started by Brooks Firestone (of “The” Firestones) for his wife Kate, and is now actively owned by Andrew Firestone, who some of us reality junkies remember well from “The Bachelor” Season 3. Curtis has somewhat of a “cult” following in the wine world, as they are known as “Rhone Rangers” because of their knack for making exceptional Rhone styled wines.
I received a 2006 Ambassador Vineyard Syrah and a 2006 Heritage Cuvee. I immediately got in the spirit when I noticed that the welcome letter was decorated with red wine stains. Now, I don’t profess to be a wine expert, but I know good wine when I taste it and this was amazing. What’s really cool about CWC’s Wine Moms Series is that they hand select limited production wines from award-winning mom and pop wineries. This gives people like me, who otherwise just buy the same bottles of wine over and over again, the opportunity to try some truly special wines. Also included in the shipment was a small book called The Sipping Point, A Crash Course in Wine, filled with handy tips like how to get a broken cork out of a bottle, remove that red wine from your white sofa, or bounce back in the morning from an evening of overdoing the wine.
Along with these incredible wines, you can also enjoy great stories, recipes, discussions and more on MomsWhoNeedWine.com and the site’s Facebook page. You can even check out video tastings of the wines on the video tab on Facebook. Plus if you’re planning a trip to California wine country, California Wine Club can hook you up with VIP tours.
With a membership, you’ll receive two bottles of limited production, award-winning wine, wine tips, tasting notes and the inside scoop on the winery, Happy Hour Notes from MomsWhoNeedWine, Wine Moms Recipe Card, Wine Moms Rating Card, Video Wine Tasting, and special offers, every month. Your first shipment also includes a Mommy Juice wine bottle tote and a copy of The Sipping Point: A Crash Course in Wine.
