Eminem: There’s No Profanity In My House

Eminem: There's No Profanity In My House

Eminem may curse like a trucker in his rap songs, but at home he sings a completely different tune.

Profanity around my house? No,” he tells Anderson Cooper in a 60 Minutes interview, airing this Sunday. “I’m not saying there’s not glimpses of me in the music, [that] there’s not truth in … things that I say. But this is music, this is my art…”

The 37-year-old father of three girls – biological daughter Hailie, 15 in December, and two adopted daughters, Alaina and Whitney – says that he puts his girls first.

I’m a parent. I have daughters. I mean, how would I really sound, as a person … walking around my house [saying], ‘Bitch, pick this up,’ you know what I mean? … I don’t cuss.”

Asked if he feels a sense of responsibility toward his young fans who might learn to cuss from his songs, the rapper says, “I feel like it’s your job to parent them. If you’re the parent, be a parent.”

He’s a hypocrite. I respect the no cursing thing, but the use of derogatory names for women in his songs, his abusive behavior towards his ex and mother, and how he describes and treats women in his music are a disservice to women and to his daughters. He’d rather sell a record than respect them.

I think that eminem has a right to sing whatever the hell he wants to. I am 45 and have a similar upbringing my mother left when I was 5. I have raised 2 wonderful boys 18 and 15. Mostly by myself but no help from their mother, I’m not successful like eminem but I understand the drug problems and being a daddy and trying to provide a life for my sons. I have nothing but respect for a man who devotes his life to his family and raises 3 DAUGHTERS, while fighting a drug issue. If you get this or see it got nothing but love for you brother. You keep up the good fight I win some and lose one but when I look into my sons eyes, I know that it’s worth everything I try. I have enjoyed being a fan but don’t you ever let anybody stand in your way. There is always some of us pulling for you . Sincerely mark Brackman would love to hear from you (dad to dad)

I think Eminem has definitely changed from that first record we’ve heard from him in certain ways. I absolutely love him. He’s a lyrical genius to me. And he seems like an even more amazing father. :-)
