Mario Lopez is loving being a new dad to his 5-week-old daughter Gia, even though his life has changed a little bit in the exercising department. Known for his six-pack abs, Lopez says due to sleep deprivation his workouts are less intense.
“I’m definitely still working out, but I do less intense workouts because I’m not getting as much sleep now,” he tells People. “So the fitness [regimen] is still intact, but lately I just haven’t been able to go at it as hard as I used to.”
The Extra host also tells the magazine what his biggest surprise was about having Gia, born on September 11.
“The biggest surprise about becoming a father was watching her being born because I didn’t know if she was going to be girl or a boy,” he says.
He adds, “The way [girlfriend Courtney Mazza] was carrying and everything else, I had a feeling it was going to be a girl – and I was right.”
As for keeping the romance alive with his girlfriend he says they are planning to do date nights stating, “We are making an effort in that department.”
Fans will be able to watch his new VH1 reality show, Mario Lopez: Saved By The Baby when it premieres November 1.
“Oh yeah, you’ll see it all,” say Lopez. “We did everything at once: new baby, new house, new puppy – lots of changes going on.”
