Céline Dion’s Twins’ Names: Eddy & Nelson

Céline Dion's Twins' Names: Eddy & Nelson

After mulling over 15,000 names, Céline Dion and her husband René Angelil have finally decided what to call their newborn twins… Eddy and Nelson!

The names have sentimental meaning for the Canadian songstress and her hubby.

Eddy is named after Eddy Marnay, who produced Céline’s first five records.

“He was like a father to her,” says the singer’s rep. “Eddy is a major influence in both Céline and René’s lives.”

Twin brother Nelson is named in honor of Nelson Mandela, who the couple met while Céline was touring a couple of years ago.

“René said that in just the few minutes they were able to spend with him, they were impressed by the human being he is,” her rep reveals.

It was a difficult decision, but in the end the proud parents just followed their hearts: “Céline and René want their children to be inspired by their names, because they were so inspired by these men.”

I guess each name is fine on their own, but I don’t really care for them together. Doesn’t anyone remember the 1930s singer Nelson Eddy?

I’m not sure why they couldn’t have used “Edward”. They could’ve used Eddy as a nickname.

celine’s new babies got a normal names. thank God!
eddy & nelson are way normal to hear than names sounds like you can barely say it. names does’nt really matter as long as their normal and healthy babies, that’s the main things besides it’s their parents who decide the name not just someone else from lost planet.
Congratz to the lovely couple and to big brother rene-charles. can’t wait to see their photos!!! i bet they’re just lovely as their big bro.
    nice job celine & rene…

Those names don’t really fit with René-Charles. I though they would go with proper French names this time as well.

God when will people quit naming their cute kids such homely and ugly names.Dont ever name your baby after a friend or relative if the names suck. Come on ,and even Jrs, are even worse. What is wrong with you people. There are a zillion cute names and you picked nelson and eddy.
