Laila Ali: Weighing Over 200lbs While Pregnant Is "No Fun"

Expecting her second child, boxer Laila Ali admits she worries about the weight gain that goes along with pregnancy.

“Luckily, my first pregnancy with my son, Curtis Jr., went very well. No morning sickness, nausea, skin problems, crazy food cravings, etc,” Laila blogs at UsMagazine.com. “But I did have to deal with what most women dread when having babies: weight gain! I know it is healthy to gain 25-40 pounds – but that does not mean I have to like it. I’m a big girl already. I’m not one of these skinny chicks. At my best, I weigh about 174 lbs, so adding another 35 puts me past 200lbs. That’s no fun for any woman.”

Laila isn’t the only one noticing her changing figure: “Yesterday I wore a velour jumpsuit, and when I walked past my husband, he said ‘Your butt is getting bigger.’ I told him I had already noticed! Isn’t it great that we can be so open and honest with each other?!” she writes.

Admitting that she’s got a craving for sweets this time around – “especially baked goods such as strawberry shortcake and peach cobbler a la mode” – Laila says she plans on doing her best to keep fit throughout her pregnancy, doing cardio and strength training “4-5 times a week.”

Laila, who is already mom to 2-year-old Curtis Jr, is currently in her second trimester with baby #2.
