Michael Jackson’s Kids: “He Was The Best Dad”

On Monday’s The Oprah Winfrey Show, 13-year-old Prince and 12-year-old Paris Jackson talked publicly for the first time about their late father, Michael Jackson.

The eldest children of the King of Pop said they didn’t mind going out in public wearing face masks and veils. In fact, their grandmother Katherine Jackson tells Winfrey that the disguises were first suggested by Debbie Rowe, their biological mother.

When we did go out without our dad, other people wouldn’t recognize us,” Paris said. “He tried to raise us without [us] knowing who he was, but that didn’t go so well.”

While Paris and Prince are now enrolled in regular school, their 8-year-old brother Blanket is still home-schooled. Paris told Winfrey of her hopes to be an actress, and Prince said he wants to be a movie producer.

When asked how their world-famous dad – who died of an overdose at age 50 on June 25, 2009 – was misunderstood, Paris said,

I kinda felt like no one understands what a good father he was. I’d say he was the best cook ever. He made the best French toast in the world. He was just a normal dad, except he was the best dad.”

I’ve always had my opinions about Michael Jackson, obviously just based on what has been said about him in the media and stuff like that, and I’d never say I disliked him or was his biggest fan, but watching this interview was really suprising. Just to see how his kids talked about him, especially Paris showed ,yeah he had his problems, but he was just a dad like anyone else, and seems like a good one. Obviously his kids aren’t in an ideal situation, but he seems to have done an amazing job based on how mature, intellegent, and polite they were. I hope they have good lives as they get older, and are happy.

I am kind of angry at this man… For allowing his children to lose a father, someone who meant so much to them, and was the only parent they had, because he was too selfish to get help and try to resolve his problems. May his three children find happiness and I hope they know that people around the world care about them.

i kinda get where your coming from but at the same time you have to realize with any addiction there is denial and most dont see the danger of their habits until they have a overdose. i.e. eminiem. if their lucky to survive like he did their WHOLE perspective usually changes. espiceally when thinking about their kids. Em doesnt do any type of drug period anymore with a different outlook on life. i think if MJ had lived, he wouldnt be so insistant that he didnt have a problem. besides just because he asks for something doesnt mean it has to be given so the people that supplied him are just as much as at fault for enabling. if it was just him getting over the counters by himself then yes i would have less sympathy but these doctors are supposed to know when to draw a line, just because someone is offering you a wad of money shouldnt mean your morals should go flying out the window. but no matter what these kids loved their dad and will always love him despite his flaws and fualts and at the end of the day that is TRULY all that matters from this point and foward since the passs can never be changed no matter what the coulda, shoulda, or what if’s are.

@Sophie S. I can understand your feeling, it is sad because he could have tried to get drug free and could still be with them. Anyway I wish these children all the best and I also hope they retain the good memories they have of their dad

I agree with Sophie. Addiction is no joke, but get help man! You know you have a problem when you’re talking annesthesia! It’s not like the man has a few drinks at night after the kids are in bed or he’s smoking a joint and playing video games. He had to have a doctor on staff to administer these drugs – he knew he had a problem. And yet, he chose to ignore it and allow it to get worse thereby allowing his children to lose their only parent. It was a selfish choice. It really, really was.

Can you just think that maybe MJ was in DENIAL, that he may thought he was in control of his problems because he was under the doctors supervision? Remember he was taking multy prescriptions drugs by one of the best doctors in town, shore MJ thought he was in safe hands, the same happen with elvis. Stop being so judgmental if you don’t know the whole story.

Ick. How eepy-cray is “Grandpa” Joe hovering in the background like freaking vulture?

I guess he’s waiting for his hand-out. AGAIN.

How anybody can say these children are not Michael Jackson’s biological children…well, it boggles my mind. Just because they are light skinned does not mean they aren’t biracial. Prince has vitiligo. Blanket looks just like Mike did as a boy.

Well at least she’s not a racist.

Judaism is a religion, not a race, and while yes, if your born into Judaism your considered Jewish, you can always convert. I mean if someone is born Asian they can’t convert to Hispanic, now can they? Of course not, because you can’t change your race.

Also, I want to contest to her being an idiot, seeing as she was smart enough to point out that Jewish people can’t look any particular way, anyone can be Jewish.
