Christian Bale: "I've Got Incredible Pride For My Family"

Christian Bale gives a guarded interview in the December issue of Esquire magazine. The actor is promoting his new film The Fighter but refused to talk about his family or personal life.

He explained, “Look, I’ve got incredible pride for my family. I’ve absolutely fallen into that cliché of a dad who could just happily talk about my daughter endlessly. But it’s not what I’m about in terms of being an actor. I don’t want people to know about that…I don’t want people to know me….Because that buggers up my job. Because if you know something about somebody, it gets in the way of just watching the guy as the character.”

Bale did relax towards the end of the interview and gushed a little about Emmeline, his 5-year-old daughter with wife Sandra "Sibi" Blažić.

"I spent most of the morning being the audience for my daughter's singing and dancing today," he said.

Asked if she is in a preschool show he answered, "No, she just does her own thing. She just makes up her own stuff and performs for us."

The 36-year-old actor added that he loves the "bouncy-castle party circuit right now" and enjoys watching animated movies with Emmeline.

"I love anything that she likes. If she's getting a kick out of it, I love it. I find myself tearing up at the most ridiculous things now, sitting next to my daughter while she's watching a movie. Me and my wife look across at each other like, 'Oh my God! Are we really doing this? Yes we are!'"

Hate him and will certainly NOT be buying this magazine. I have had zero respect for him since that Terminator rant. How can a man with that attitude, temper and impatience be a good father?

Maybe he was on drugs and isn't anymore.

Or maybe he just had a bad day and lashed out.

See that wasn't so bad, just be normal and talk a little bit about the things that make you proud and if it's your family then share that. He has fans who love him and his family so sharing is not a bad thing. It's only becomes cheap when the media jumps on certain things and makes a big deal out of nothing.
