Actress Michelle Monaghan shimmers on the cover of the December issue of Women’s Health magazine. In the interview the busy mom, whose daughter Willow turned 2 this month, talks fitness and family – and how the two intersect.
On being a working mom: “On my kitchen counter sits a KitchenAid mixer, a potty seat, and a small pile of scripts…That pretty much sums it up. I’m a homemaker, a potty trainer, and a part-time pretender.”
On being healthier as a mom: “For the first time, I thought about my well-being. Now I’m trying to instill healthy eating habits in my daughter, so by default my husband and I are eating healthier.”
On exercise: “Going on a hike with a friend or my husband works for me because it doesn’t feel like exercise. You’re catching up or having a gossip session and time goes by quickly.”
On diets: “I’ve never been on a diet. I don’t think they make sense. Ultimately, it’s eating sensibly . . . but if I’m at a restaurant, all bets are off!”

Who puts a potty seat on the kitchen counter?
What a joke, cover of Women’s Health. I saw her 2 weeks ago at Bristol Farms in Hollywood and she was crazy. She looked like he hadn’t had a meal in days, her face was gaunt and acted cracked out. Hollywood is a farce.
